Straight, Corner, L-Shaped or P-Shaped Baths?

Space is one of the main things to keep in mind when it comes to choosing a new bath. The size and shape of your bathroom will influence the size and shape of your new tub. While more generously sized rooms offer the luxury of choice, smaller or more awkwardly shaped rooms will need slightly more consideration.

It’s worth bearing in mind, however, that even though space is limited, choice and creativity are not! So whatever space you’re working with, you’ll be able to find a tub for your bathroom that works perfectly with the space.

If you’re lost between the L-shapes and the P-shapes, or if you’re not sure whether a straight or corner bath would be the perfect tub for the space, then we’ve got all the information you need right here.

Straight style baths

Simple, sleek and elegant, the straight bath never goes out of style. The straight bath fits flush to the wall, usually slotting into a corner at one end or, depending on the wall width, at both ends. This style of fittings is what defines the straight style bath as an inset or built in bath.

The straight style bath is still one of the most popular choices for bathrooms, largely owing to its simple design and versatility. Taps can be fitted at one end of the tub or, for double-ended tubs, in the middle of the tub.

Corner baths

The sweeping design of a corner bath makes an elegant yet space-saving addition to any bathroom.

A corner bath works well to free up both wall and floor space to create the illusion of a larger space in smaller bathrooms.

You’ll find that the majority of corner baths are wider than standard straight or inset baths, so they’re still able to hold a large amount of water for an indulgent bathing experience.

Shaped shower baths

If your bathroom doesn’t allow for a separate bath and shower enclosure then you’re not alone.

Many modern bathrooms have limited space, so there isn’t the option to have a luxurious tub and a spacious shower enclosure in the room. While plenty of people opt to fit a modern shower room, others prefer to have the option to take the occasional swim in the tub.

Shower baths are a great compromise, doubling up as a shower with a shower head fixed to the wall reaching over the bath, whilst still providing the option of relaxing in a full length tub.

More advanced designs, such as the P-shaped or L-shaped baths, provide more adequate showering space, as you’d typically expect in a shower enclosure.

P-shaped baths

The sleekly designed P-shaped bath really brings that elegant sense of panache to the bathroom.

The curved edge at the shower end of the tub provides plenty of space for a comfortable shower, without feeling confined.

A rounded shower screen sits alongside the curved edge of the tub to protect the floor and other bathroom fittings from getting splashed with water from the shower.

L-shaped baths

The L-shaped shower works in a similar way to the P-shaped shower in that the shower end of the tub is angled to create a spacious shower enclosure. Unlike the rounded design of the P-shaped bath, the L-shaped promotes a cutting edge contemporary design, that’s perfect for modern bathrooms. An angled, rubber sealed shower screen fits around the cube shape of the tub, to prevent water from the shower from splashing onto the floor or other bathroom fittings.

Straight and shower baths can be excellent space-saving solutions, so they’re perfect for smaller or awkwardly shaped bathrooms. If you’re considering getting a tub that gives you the best of both worlds, then check out our range of shower baths.
