How to Fit a Lamp Shade
Fitting a new light shade couldn't be easier, especially with one of our easy fit light shades. Before putting your new shade in place, you'll need to remove the light bulb. This is so that the lamp shade ring can slot neatly onto the light fitting.
Many of our modern lamp shades have a reversible gimble (the metal cradle that attaches your shade to its inner ring). This means that your light shade can be fitted onto a table lamp or hung as a ceiling lamp shade when the gimble is reversed. With the shade in place, screw your light bulb back into the fitting. This will keep the shade snug and secure.
How to Measure a Lamp Shade
To find the accurate diameter of a lamp shade, use a tape measure to record its width at the widest point. This will be the measurement given in the product description. It is also a good idea to measure the diameter of the ring to ensure that the attachment on your new light shade is the same size as your existing fitting.

How to Clean a Lamp Shade
Busting dust should be the first port of call when cleaning a lamp shade. Using a microfibre cloth, gently work your way around the shade, wiping as you go. Take care around delicate elements and don’t neglect any nooks and crannies. If there are any stubborn marks, a fabric lamp shade can be carefully spot cleaned with a slightly damp sponge. To prevent damage, a paper lamp shade should only ever be cleaned with a dry cloth.
