Horoscope Home Styling: Christmas Interiors for Each Star Sign

Christmas is coming, and that can mean only one thing… it’s time to start thinking about the colour schemes of your baubles!

Decking the halls is one of the most enjoyable parts of Yuletide festivities, where we get to inject a little more of our personalities into our tinsel-laden homes.

Christmas decoration is as old as the holiday itself, older in fact! Romans used to deck their halls for the feast of Saturnalia in mid-December while Celts and other pagans celebrated Yule by bringing boughs of holly and other festive greenery into their homes.

How you decorate your home at Christmas is a personal choice, whether you want to follow tradition, embrace your favourite colours or try a new trend.

However, choosing the right approach to Christmas decoration according to your star sign can bring a truly personal touch to your home this festive season!

Aries

As with everything Aries, your decoration style is unashamedly bold. Ruled by the planet of action, Mars, an Aries will waste no time in getting the practicality of Christmas decorating sorted so they can relax in front of a roaring fire with a bowl of chestnuts.

For no-nonsense Aries, there is really only one colour scheme for Christmas and that is red, gold and green.

Like all fire signs, you are drawn to and comforted by deep shades of red, and these will play a key role in your Christmas decorating, but like the ram with the golden fleece in the Greek myth of the same name, gold is really your power colour.

There is no better time than Christmas to incorporate gold into your living space, whether with baubles, bells, or glitter:

Taurus

If ever a zodiac sign was the ruler of hearth and home, it’s Taurus – and Christmas is the perfect time to cosy up with family.

With this in mind, a Taurus will want to ensure a style of Christmas decorating that is welcoming and appealing to everyone, both young and old.

If there is anything a Taurus loves as much as its family, it’s food, and Christmas is the biggest feast of them all. A Taurus will want to make sure the table setting is as festive as the rest of the home.

The hardworking Taurus should look to celebrate the fruit of their labour at Christmas with a wreath and garlands adorned with berries and orange slices, along with some other food-inspired deocrations:

Gemini

If any star sign was most likely to get torn between two trends and decide to just combine both, it’s the one often described as two personalities in one – the twins, Gemini!

Forever changing their minds, a Gemini is unlikely to ever stick to one colour scheme, so will pick their favourite parts of several and combine them in a cheerful combination that shouldn’t work but somehow does.

A natural chameleon, a Gemini loves patterns. The more vibrant and clashing the better. For the easily bored Gemini, a riot of colours and texture is vital to add interest to a festive home. Bonus points for anything kitsch or novelty.

Ruled by the communication planet Mercury, decorations that incorporate words are of special interest!

Cancer

Deeply sentimental Cancerians just LOVE Christmas, and their decorating style won’t fail to reflect this.

Cancerians care deeply about family and home and will do everything in their power to ensure everyone feels the magic of Christmas.

Almost as soon as December arrives (or even before) they will be on a mission to decorate their home with all things merry and bright. From multicoloured fairy lights to whimsical nutcrackers and jolly Santa figurines, the more festive the better.

A Christmas countdown calendar is a must as they help to ramp up the Christmas spirit for friends and family.

Perhaps the most comfort-oriented of signs, anything that reminds them of Christmases past will be a welcome addition to their homes throughout Yuletide.

Leo

The warm-hearted Leo loves the chance to indulge their creative side with decorations. It’s not enough to just do what everyone else does, this natural-born leader needs to be the first with the latest trends

Known for their natural generosity and dramatic flair, a Leo’s chosen colour scheme needs to be both modern and welcoming. Think gold and bronze metallics, and champagne and rose shades, with plenty of details and texture.

Crucially for a Leo, everything should feel warm – no blues and silvers here.

Christmas is the time of year for extravagance and Leo knows better than most how to bring that golden glow to their residence, ready to welcome guests.

Virgo

The zodiac’s natural perfectionist, if anyone is going to take Christmas decoration seriously (almost too seriously) it is a Virgo.

Virgo will want to take a methodical approach to Christmas. Decorating and having a pre-approved colour scheme will help others meet a Virgo’s high expectations when helping to tackle the tinsel.

An air sign, Virgos are drawn to clean, cool colours so a mix of silver and blue is perfect. A Virgo craves organisation and order, so buying decorations in pairs or packs can ensure that a look feels intentional and tied together.

No Virgo Christmas will be complete without a tree-top angel observing everything beneath.

Libra

The fair-minded Libra wants nothing more than world peace at Christmas – and maybe that designer scent they’ve been eyeing up.

If the Zodiac’s diplomat can’t be sure of calm at the dinner table, then they can certainly ensure this spirit is reflected in their decorating.

Naturally elegant, Libras will want to ensure a harmonious colour scheme throughout the home with unique decorations that reflect their love for the finer things in life.

A mix of Gold and pastel pinks will ensure that their home feels luxurious this festive season, with lots of different textures. Intricate beading details and feathers are the perfect stand-out designs for this air sign.

Scorpio

Often unfairly maligned as cold and calculating, Scorpios are complex creatures who are able to intuit the needs of others around them.

Scorpios can thrive in the darker months, but that doesn’t mean they’re not aware of the need for light that others may feel.

When given the chance to truly be themselves, they will be keen to combine the natural elegance with empathy for the light and warmth that others seek.

With this in mind, their ideal Christmas colour scheme is a striking and sophisticated combination of royal blue and glistening gold. Dark and light.

This dramatic combination is a great reflection of Scorpio’s energy, ruled by the planet Pluto, the god of the underworld.

This might not feel very Christmassy, until you remember it’s perfect nod to the Winter Solstice as, by the time we sit down for Christmas dinner, the days will already begin to grow longer.

Sagittarius

Solid and dependable, a Sagittarius enjoys the finer things in life. However, they are looking for quality over quantity and won’t indulge in flimsy gimmicks.

A Sagittarian knows that trends come and go but that tradition and craftsmanship will stand the test of time. For them, Christmas is timeless.

When it comes to Christmas decorations, this natural adventurer loves to bring the outside in with an emphasis on wooden and sustainable decorations, green foliage and natural materials.

A neutral palette is key for this down-to-earth sign, combined with classic shapes that evoke the spirit of a family Christmas without too much fuss or clashing colours.

A reusable advent calendar, solid and practical, is their ideal decoration.

Capricorn

The classic earth sign, Capricorns have a natural affinity with Christmas due to having been born just before during or after the Christmas season.

Despite being the Christmas sign, they can approach Christmas decoration with characteristic practicality. It’s not that they’re stubborn, they just know what they like and how they like it.

They feel no need to waste money on fleeting trends., For this detail-oriented sign, classic good quality decorations will ensure that their home is the place to be this Capricorn season. Their natural style from the wreath to the tree is a celebration of all things winter.

Browns, greens and golds are the perfect colours for an earthy Capricorn and buying decorations as a set will ensure that everything matches and is as easy to put up as it is put away again when the season draws to a close.

Aquarius

An air sign masquerading as a water sign, Aquarians love nothing more than to take a unique approach to everything they do. Decorating their home for Christmas is no exception to their need for exceptionalism.

Aquarians are not afraid of changing things up when they want, and they will strive to create an engaging social space for friends and family at Christmas – this will be a key focus of their decorating style.

Part of this will include decorations as talking points. Iconic disco ball baubles and champagne-shaped tree decorations should fit the bill.

Unlikely to adhere too strictly to any given colour scheme, they will want to mix and match colours and textures for a look that matches their eclectic personality. Playing with lights will create a space that feels vibrant and alive.

Pisces

The zodiac’s water dweller, Pisceans thrive in calming environments. Although not adverse to Christmas decorations, too many flashy lights and clashing colours are likely to dampen instead of heighten a Piscean’s Christmas spirit.

This deeply intuitive sign can be like a sponge soaking up their surroundings, so a creative Piscean will want to deck their halls with care, ensuring that the magic of Christmas is just that. Magic.

With a natural affinity for cool colours, think pale and frosted with duck egg blues and crisp silvers illuminated by white static lights.
