Product Information

One plant supplied

Gooseberries are easy to grow and early fruiting. Bushes can produce fruit for up to 10 years. They are vigorous, mildew resistant and produce heavy crops of fruit suitable for cooking and baking. The plant itself is a small spiny bush with deeply lobed, dark green leaves and produces bell shaped flowers and green/yellow to red berries, approx. 2.5cm long, containing many tiny seeds.

  • Very large fruit
  • Good resistance to mildew
  • Heavy cropping varieties
  • Great for puddings, jams and freezing

Additional Information

Keep moist especially when forming fruits and during dry spells. Feed in spring (add compost, fertilizer, well rotted manure). Prune after harvest (July, August) if needed, by cutting back this seasons soft growth to two or three leaves from the base. It's recommended to keep the centre of the bush open to avoid mildew. Gooseberry's can also be grown on a standard or single upright stems, cordons as well as fans on walls or fences. This makes picking fruit easier.
