Charlotte is now the most popular salad potato in the UK. Charlotte is a popular variety for planting in August and harvesting before Christmas.
  • Tubers of Charlotte are long with a yellow skin and firm yellow waxy flesh that make it a superb salad potato.
  • Cooking qualities are excellent and the potatoes are full of flavour.

Plant as soon as possible after purchase. Keep in a dry, cool and well ventilated place until planting. Protect foliage from frost in the autumn/winter. Soil preparation: choose a place in the garden which has not been used to grow garlic, onions, shallots or leeks for at least two years. The soil should be open, well drained and not have been manured for at least one year. Planting Each potato should be 35cm from the next, with rows spaced 70cm apart. Always make sure the eyes are facing upwards. Planting seed potatoes is also possible in containers. Care: water well in dry spells. Harvesting: dig up mature potatoes and store them in a cool, dry and dark location. Potatoes can be stored for several months. Tip: when harvesting, remove all foliage and small potatoes from the soil and discard, to avoid diseases on next year’s crop.
