Choosing a kitchen styleBack to top Top

When it comes to choosing a kitchen style, choose a look that complements your home, and a design (and colour!) that you'll be happy living with over the years. The price of the finished kitchen will depend largely on the style of units that you choose and the material from which they are made. Cabinets come in a range of widths and heights, allowing you to make the most of whatever space you have. The number of cabinets you choose will depend on your storage needs, and also the size of your kitchen. All cabinets come with a ten year guarantee and high quality door fronts for a perfect, stylish finish.

The work triangleBack to top Top

Kitchen layouts are based on a concept called the work triangle - this means that for the most efficient use of space and to stop you walking unnecessary miles, the fridge, cooker and sink should form a working triangle, ideally 1.5m -2.4m apart.

Choosing your appliancesBack to top Top

Once you are happy with the design and have chosen a unit style the next step is to decide which appliances to include. If space is limited, consider slimline options, or counter-top models, or look for appliances that double up on tasks such as washer-dryers, fridge-freezers and microwaves with ovens. Most appliances can be integrated into your kitchen scheme with the addition of panel fronts; however you may wish to choose appliances to complement your kitchen design.

Ovens, hobs and hoods Back to top Top

Oven, hobs and hoods

The type of oven, hob and hood that you choose will largely depend on the look you wish to achieve, your budget and how you like to cook. Appliances can be mixed and matched and a popular option is an electric oven and a gas hob. For more information on choosing ovens see our ovens buyers guide. All gas appliances must be installed and maintained by professional Gas Safe registered engineers. If a gas appliance is to be fitted into a multi dwelling abode, eg flats or apartments, then regulations state the appliance must have a flame failure safety device fitted.
