Kent-bred Strawberry ‘Marshmello’ delivers an exceptional flavour profile, offering sweeter fruits and a more delicate texture that surpasses supermarket varieties. This robust cultivar exhibits outstanding resistance to common strawberry diseases. Cultivate in autumn or late spring in a sunny, sheltered location with well-manured, free-draining soil. Space plants 45cm (18") apart in rows 75cm (30") apart, ensuring the crown sits just above the surface to prevent rotting. Ideal for hanging baskets or dedicated strawberry planters on the patio. Water regularly throughout the growing season and maintain weed-free rows. Container-grown plants benefit from feeding every two weeks. Remove runners from early summer to maintain vigour. Protect developing fruits from slugs and snails by spreading straw around each plant, and use netting to deter birds. After cropping, remove netting and straw to improve air circulation. Mulch with well-rotted manure in spring. While plants fruit for several years, replacing them every 3 years is recommended to maintain optimal yields.
