Korona Strawberry: Expect a bountiful harvest of strikingly dark red strawberries, renowned for their exceptional flavour and succulence. This early to mid-season variety boasts impressive yields alongside superb resistance to verticillium wilt, botrytis, and grey mould, ensuring trouble-free growing.
For best results, plant in autumn or late spring in a sunny, sheltered location with well-manured, free-draining soil. Space plants 45cm (18") apart in rows 75cm (30") apart, ensuring the crown is just visible above the soil surface to prevent rotting. Strawberries also thrive in hanging baskets or dedicated patio planters.
Water regularly throughout the growing season and keep rows weeded. Plants in baskets and containers will benefit from feeding every two weeks. From early summer, remove any runners that appear to maintain plant vigour. Protect developing fruits from slugs and snails with straw, and use netting to deter birds. After cropping, remove netting and straw to improve air circulation around the crown of the plant.
