Asparagus 'Burgundine': Unique purple spears with a lower lignin content, perfect for enjoying raw or lightly steamed.
Asparagus 'Gijnlim': A reliable variety that produces succulent green spears with dark purple tips, ready early in the season.
Asparagus 'Vittorio': Originally developed for the white asparagus market, these spears are traditionally ‘earthed up’ by mounding soil to create tender, snow-white spears.
Prior to receiving your order, ensure your permanent asparagus beds are well-prepared so the crowns can be planted promptly. Choose a sheltered spot in full sun. Asparagus beds should be richly fertile and well-drained. Remove all weeds and incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to enrich the soil structure and fertility. For cold, wet soils, adding sharp sand or grit will help improve drainage.
