How to Upcycle a Wooden Chair

Upcycle a favourite chair that’s looking a bit tired to give it a new lease of life.

  1. Prepare surface

Sand the chair all over, this will create a good surface for the paint to adhere to.
  2. Protect surrounding wood

Brush wood wax onto any wood that’s not going to be painted to protect it.
  3. Cover parts

Use masking tape and newspaper to cover the parts of the chair you want to keep natural. Top tip The masking tape will help give you a nice straight edge.
  4. Apply primer

Paint primer onto the chair before you spray paint to create good base for the coloured paint to adhere to.
  5. Spray paint

Evenly spray on the colour in a well ventilated area, then allow the paint to dry fully, before gently removing the newspaper and masking tape.
