Expect them to reach a mature height of 10m (33ft) and a width of 1.5m (5ft) over 20 years. Planting requires a sunny location and well-drained soil; a soil-based compost is ideal for containers. Dig a hole larger than the root ball, incorporating organic matter and mycorrhizal fungi for optimal root development. Plant at the same depth as in the pot, firm the soil, and water thoroughly. Regular watering is essential for the first two growing seasons; thereafter, these trees are drought-tolerant, though container plants will require more frequent watering. Mulch with 2-3 inches of organic matter after planting to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
