Reaching an impressive height of up to 2.5m in its second or third year, this hardy perennial develops into a robust, bushy plant, boasting as many as 30 blooms.
A captivating Oriental x Trumpet hybrid (Orienpet), this variety presents exotic, trumpet-shaped flowers, complete with the beloved fragrance and distinctive markings of Oriental lilies. As the years pass, the bulbs mature, yielding ample stems that culminate in a dense, bushy plant each season. Remarkably strong and sturdy for their size, these lilies thrive in moist, well-drained soil, ideally neutral to acidic, and rich in organic matter.
For optimal growth, enrich the soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting to give your lilies the best start. When cultivating lilies in containers, a loam-based compost such as John Innes No.2 is highly recommended. Plant the lily bulbs at a depth approximately three times their height and spaced 15cm (6") apart. Deep planting provides essential protection for the bulb, particularly during hot spells. Select a sheltered, sunny location where the lilies can flourish with their heads in the sun and their roots shaded.
