- Large spiralled rosette with octopus like leaves
- Soil free and air purifying
- Thrives in bright light with good air flow
Behold the Air Plant (Tillandsia xerographica), often hailed as the King of Air Plants, a true showstopper amongst its Tillandsia kin. Maturing to a considerable size, it can reach nearly a metre in length, making a grand statement wherever it resides.
It showcases a dense rosette of wide, silvery-green leaves, tapering elegantly to a point, spiralling gently to resemble the tentacles of an octopus. Hygienic and air-purifying, this marvel requires no soil, making it a wonderfully clean and low-maintenance living ornament.
Under the right conditions, this remarkable plant may reward you with an impressive flower spike, reaching up to 40cm in height, displaying stunning red/purple flowers nestled within yellow bracts. Note that the Tillandsia xerographica will flower only once, but fear not, as it will produce new pups at its base, ensuring the continuation of its life cycle.
Supplied as 1 x 18cm Wide Air Plant.
How to Grow:.
Light: Position in bright, filtered light with good air circulation. Ensure ample light without direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.
Temperature: Maintain a minimum temperature of 5°C (41°F) to ensure its well-being.
Watering: From spring to autumn, water frequently by immersing the entire plant in rainwater or misting thoroughly. Allow the plant to drain and dry completely after watering. Reduce soaking frequency in winter.
Fertilisation: Feed monthly by adding a small amount of bromeliad fertiliser to the misting water.
