Magnolia Red Lucky delivers a spectacular spring show with pale pink, goblet-shaped flowers, each petal flushed with deep rose on the outside. Appearing on bare branches before the handsome green foliage, these blooms create stunning focal points, flowering twice, in spring and late summer. This low-maintenance, deciduous magnolia is perfect for growing in a large container on the patio or decorative borders. Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded position, sheltered from cold winds and hard spring frosts. It thrives in rich, moist, well-drained, acid to neutral soil enriched with plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting. Shading the roots encourages quicker establishment, and mulching around the base is beneficial. Water during the growing season until established; little to no pruning is needed.
