Thompson and Morgan Skimmia Japonica Rubella Plant in Pot 9cm

Bring year-round colour to your garden with the Thompson and Morgan Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’. This compact, evergreen shrub is an excellent choice for borders and patio containers, providing constant interest. The Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’ is a male clone bearing rosettes of glossy, aromatic leaves. Throughout winter, the evergreen foliage is punctuated by red buds, which burst open in spring to reveal potent, fragrant white blossoms.
For optimal growth, plant in a dappled or fully shaded location, using moderately fertile, rich, well-drained soil with a neutral to acidic pH. Avoid planting in full sun, as this can lead to yellowing of the leaves. Alternatively, grow in large containers using a soil-based compost like John Innes No 3, mixed with ericaceous (acidic) compost.
Skimmia plants require minimal pruning. After flowering, lightly trim to maintain shape and remove any dead or damaged growth.
