Geometric Sempervivum 'Mixed', also known as Houseleeks, are a superb collection of easy-to-grow evergreen succulents, perfect for creating a living carpet in your garden. These hardy perennials form dense rosettes of foliage in a fabulous array of colours and forms, some adorned with delicate, spidery webbing. Mature rosettes may produce panicles of star-shaped flowers in summer, adding an extra layer of charm. Individual rosettes fade after flowering, but they quickly give way to small offsets, ensuring a continuous display.
Requiring only sharply drained, gritty soil and full sun, Sempervivum are the epitome of low-maintenance gardening. Once established, they are extremely drought tolerant, making them ideal for rockeries, wall crevices and alpine troughs. These neat succulents also thrive as houseplants, brightening any windowsill indoors. Reaching a height of 8cm (3") with a spread of 30cm (12"), these Houseleeks need little attention throughout the growing season. For hairy species, protection from cold, wet conditions is beneficial. Divide overcrowded clumps in late spring to encourage their spread and ensure a flourishing display.
