A sensational ground cover option, Sedum 'Atlantis' presents a captivating display with its yellow blooms and compact, low-growing form. This hardy perennial, awarded RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year in 2019, thrives in sunny spots, making it ideal for rockeries and gravel gardens, though it's equally content in partial shade. Its fleshy, moss-green leaves, adorned with delicately serrated creamy-yellow edges, maintain their vibrancy from summer through autumn. Cherry-red leaf buds give rise to new foliage, while pale-yellow flowers emerge from pink buds, attracting butterflies and pollinating insects to its flowers. Reaching a height of up to 15cm and spreading up to 45cm at maturity, this spreading stonecrop forms a generous cushion of colourful foliage. Plant in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained, non-acidic soil enriched with well-rotted manure or garden compost. Water regularly during hot, dry spells until established. To maintain shape, cut back old stems and foliage after flowering. Once established, this sedum demonstrates excellent drought tolerance. Caution: all parts are harmful if eaten.
