- Large, daisy-like flowers
- Clump-forming nature
- Bright yellow with a piercing black centre
Beloved for its late-season vibrancy, Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm’, or Black-eyed Susan (sometimes known as Coneflower), is an RHS AGM-awarded perennial, delivering a burst of colour as summer blooms fade. Forming substantial clumps year after year, this hardy plant produces increasing numbers of flowering stems. Its large, daisy-like flowers boast radiant yellow petals surrounding a striking black centre, perched atop strong, upright stems that attract bees and butterflies. Ideal for sunny borders, it complements other late-summer favourites like echinacea, sedum, and nerines, as well as ornamental grasses. Rudbeckia thrives in sunny or partially shaded locations, favouring fertile, preferably heavy, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Regular feeding and watering are essential, as coneflowers dislike drought and soils that dry out in summer. Deadheading spent flowers encourages further blooming. At the season's end, cut back to the crown and apply a dry mulch of straw or wood chippings for winter protection from winter extremes. Position in full sun or partial shade. Reaching up to 60cm in height and spreading up to 45cm when fully grown. Supplied as 3 x Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm’ Plants in 1 Litre Pots. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
