- Beloved choice among gardeners and chefs alike
- Upright growth habit
- Silvery, aromatic foliage
Rosemary 'Miss Jessop's Upright' is a robust, medium-sized evergreen shrub, reaching up to 200cm. Highly prized by gardeners and chefs, this Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit variety features upright, silvery stems and aromatic, needle-like leaves that release their fragrance throughout the year. From late spring to early summer, it produces clusters of pale lilac flowers, a favourite for attracting bees.
Ideal for sunny borders, herb gardens, and gravel gardens, Rosemary 'Miss Jessop's Upright' is versatile enough for hedging, thanks to its dense growth habit; a light prune in late spring will help maintain its shape. Its aromatic leaves are a classic culinary addition, complementing lamb and chicken dishes and adding depth to soups and stews. Rosemary leaves can also be infused into a soothing herbal tea, potentially offering relief from headaches, colic, and cold symptoms.
For optimal growth, plant in full sun. Rosemary thrives in warm climates and is frost-tolerant once established. Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry between waterings, and fertilise lightly in spring with a balanced fertiliser. It prefers dry conditions, so avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
