The Rosa Everglow Ruby is a magical new cultivar that produces stunning crimson flowers, each boasting a distinctive star at its centre that transitions from bright yellow to crisp white. Perfectly suited for patio containers, courtyards, or smaller borders, this compact, well-branched shrub adds a touch of elegance to any space. This rose is self-cleaning, meaning it effortlessly sheds its faded blooms, eliminating the need for deadheading.
For optimal growth, plant roses as soon as possible after delivery in an open, sunny location with rich, fertile, well-drained soil. To avoid soil-borne diseases, ensure the planting site hasn't been used for roses in recent years. Enrich the soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting, and add a handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole. Regular feeding and watering will promote healthy growth. Remove any suckers that sprout from below the graft union.
In late summer, prune climbing roses by removing any dead, diseased, rubbing, or damaged wood. For the first two years, train the remaining stems horizontally on wires. From the third year onwards, reduce the main stems to maintain the plant's size and reduce side shoots to three buds. After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant.
