- Produces vibrant orange berries
- Thorny tough shrub for secure boundary
- Spring blooms attract bees
Bring vibrant colour and robust structure to your garden with Pyracantha ‘Orange Glow’, also known as Firethorn. This tough, resilient and easy-to-grow, hardy, evergreen shrub is celebrated for its dazzling display of fiery orange berries in autumn, providing a stunning focal point. Beyond autumn, enjoy glossy green leaves throughout the year, complemented by clusters of bee-friendly white flowers in spring.
Its thorny nature makes Pyracantha an excellent choice for a security hedge, offering a virtually impenetrable barrier. Alternatively, train it against a wall or cultivate it as a striking, free-standing shrub in any area of the garden. While it can reach up to 3m if left unpruned, it responds well to a hard prune in autumn or spring, allowing you to maintain your desired size.
Plant in any well-drained, reliably moist soil in a sunny or partially shaded spot, sheltered from cold, drying winds. Regular feeding and watering will ensure healthy establishment. Prune free-standing shrubs in early spring to remove any damaged or poorly positioned shoots. When training against a wall, tie in main shoots to establish the permanent framework and prune back unwanted shoots to the main stem.
Position: Full Sun and Partial Shade. Height: Up to 3m when fully established. Spread: Up to 3m when fully established. Supplied as 1 x Pyracantha ‘Orange Glow’ Plant in a 3-litre pot, complete with growing and care instructions.
