To nurture your phlox, pot them up and keep them in a frost-free environment until they're robust enough for outdoor planting. Once the risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before transplanting to their final location.
Phlox thrive in any fertile, moist, well-drained soil, whether in full sun or partial shade. Enrich the soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting. Regular feeding and watering, especially during dry spells, will help young plants become fully established. After flowering, lightly shear the stems to encourage fresh, new growth.
