Conference' Pear is a well-loved variety, renowned for its delicious fruit, perfect as a dessert pear or cooked in various dishes. This variety produces large, bell-shaped pears with green skin and a wonderfully juicy flavour. The fruits can be enjoyed when firm or fully ripe, though harvesting slightly under-ripe from October to November is recommended, allowing them to ripen slowly indoors in a cool environment. 'Conference' is partially self-fertile; however, for optimal yields, planting alongside another pear variety is beneficial. If space is limited, ensure a nearby neighbour has a suitable pollinating tree. Expect cropping to begin approximately 2 years after planting, with best yields achieved around 5 years. Ideally suited for kitchen and wildlife gardens. Hardy. Thrives in a position of full sun, reaching a height and spread of up to 300cm.
