Product Information

  • Dessert pear with firm, sweet flesh
  • Stores well from autumn to winter
  • Small garden-friendly compact plant

Discover the delightful Conference pear, a garden classic celebrated for its superb flavour and adaptability, making it a must-have for any fruit garden. These pears present as long, elegant, bell-shaped fruits boasting firm flesh, equally delicious eaten fresh or cooked. The flavour intensifies into a smooth, juicy sweetness as the fruit ripens, ensuring a truly satisfying eating experience.
Harvest time falls between October and November, with the pears storing well until January, allowing you to savour their exquisite taste throughout winter. For the best flavour, pick the pears slightly under-ripe, store them in a cool place, and allow them to ripen indoors.
Perfect for gardens both large and small, Conference pears flourish on a variety of rootstocks. The Quince C, Eline, and Adams rootstocks yield dwarf trees, reaching a mature height of 2.5-3m, ideal for compact spaces. The Quince A rootstock produces semi-vigorous trees, growing up to 4m.
Plant these trees in well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered location for optimal results. Although partially self-fertile, planting with another pear variety or ensuring a pollinator nearby will significantly improve fruit production.
How to Grow:.
Light: Requires full sun.
Temperature: Thrives in temperate climates.
Watering: Water generously, particularly during dry spells.
Feeding: Incorporate well-rotted manure or compost before planting; feed regularly thereafter.
Humidity: Prefers well-drained soil; avoid waterlogging.
Please note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and represent expected results upon maturity. Different growing conditions may affect results. The image may illustrate supply but can vary due to seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months). Decorative pots are not included.
