Quick and easy to grow indoors or in a warm greenhouse all year round. Sow microgreens thickly in pots or trays, on the surface of free-draining seed compost. Do not soak seeds before sowing. Water gently to settle the soil and grow on a bright, sunny windowsill at an average temperature of 21-25°C (70-75°F). Do not exclude light, as this aids germination. In winter, seal pots in a clear plastic bag or propagator to maintain adequate germination temperatures. For a continuous supply, sow seeds every 10 days. Keep compost reliably moist until seedlings develop.
Harvest microgreens around 10-14 days after germination, when seedlings are approximately 5cm (2") tall. To prepare the coir discs, place them on a tray or saucer and add lukewarm water, allowing them to expand up to seven times their size. Add water in stages if necessary, then drain any excess. Place each expanded pellet into a biodegradable pot and firm down to eliminate air gaps. Water again before sowing to fully saturate the pot, ensuring it takes on a darker appearance.
