Product Information

  • Compact upright habit suits borders and containers in small gardens
  • Two-tone purple blooms reach 15cm across for striking visual impact
  • Supplied as a 9cm pot with care instructions

Create a stunning focal point with the Thompson and Morgan Magnolia Susan Plant Pot 9cm. It brings vibrant two-tone purple blooms and a compact upright habit to your garden, creating a striking display that fits perfectly in borders or containers. With petals that twist elegantly and reach up to 15cm across, you'll enjoy easy maintenance and versatility for smaller spaces. The plant thrives in rich, moist acidic soil and prefers sun or semi-shade, making it simple to establish and care for. Delivered in a 9cm pot with full growing instructions, you'll find it a rewarding addition whether you're pickling young flowers for salads or simply enjoying the colour. Culinary note: The young flowers, once separated, can be pickled and then used either on their own as a treat or in salads. Plant magnolias in a sunny or semi-shaded position with protection from cold winds and hard spring frosts. Magnolias prefer a rich, moist, well-drained, acid to neutral soil. Incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to improve the soil prior to planting, mixing it thoroughly and deeply. Magnolia plants establish quicker when their roots are shaded. Following planting, apply a mulch of rotted bark chips, manure or garden compost, taking care not to mound it around the stem of the plant. When growing magnolias in a patio container, use a blend of ericaceous compost mixed with John Innes No. 3. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young magnolias are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted bark chips or garden compost to the base of the plant. Magnolias require little pruning other than to maintain their shape and remove damaged stems or crossing stems. Product Specifications: Position in: sun or semi-shade Height: Up to 400cm Spread: Up to 300cm Supplied as 1 x 9cm pots Delivered with growing and care instructions Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
