Belgica Honeysuckle, a beloved and vigorous deciduous climber, brings a touch of fragrant charm to any garden. Ideal for adorning fences, walls, or rambling through trees and shrubs, this Honeysuckle variety boasts beautifully scented, red-flushed white flowers that gradually transition to yellow with distinctive red streaks. Following the floral display are inedible red berries, adding further seasonal interest.
Flowering primarily in early summer, this Early Dutch Honeysuckle often graces gardens with a second flush of scented blooms in September and October. Reaching a height of up to 7 metres and spreading to 1 metre, it's a wonderful addition to any outdoor space.
Culinary enthusiasts may note that the parboiled leaves can be used as a vegetable, while the flowers offer a sweet nectar that can be enjoyed directly, used as a vegetable, or transformed into syrup and puddings. A tea can also be brewed from the leaves, buds and flowers.
Position in sun or semi-shade for optimal growth. Expect a height of up to 700cm and spread of up to 100cm when fully established. The flowering period extends from May to June.
