- Fragrant bee-friendly flowers
- Aromatic evergreen silver foliage
- Perfect for creating fragrant low-growing hedges
Munstead' Lavender, a classic English Lavender, has been a garden favourite for years, celebrated for its impressive garden performance, resilience, and tolerance to dry conditions, alongside its fabulous display of colour and scent. This variety forms a neat, bushy shape, yet boasts relatively long flower stalks in summer, creating a relaxed aesthetic. Establishing quickly, it's excellent for low hedges, edging paths, or filling spaces at the front of large, sunny borders, and also thrives in large patio containers. The aromatic, silver-grey evergreen foliage provides structure, colour, and fragrance all year round. In summer, expect a magnificent show of fragrant lilac-mauve flowers that are irresistible to bees and butterflies. These fragrant blooms are suitable as fresh cut flowers and can also be dried. Simple to care for, drought-tolerant, and requiring minimal upkeep, it simply needs a sunny location with free-draining soil. Lavenders dislike damp soil, particularly in winter. Improve heavy soil by adding coarse grit or sharp sand before planting. Water regularly during summer until plants are established, after which they are reasonably drought-tolerant.
