Prized for its resilience, drought tolerance and garden performance, Lavender 'Munstead' is a traditional English Lavender, valued for years, that puts on a fabulous display of colour and fragrance. This variety establishes quickly and has compact, bushy foliage with long flowering stalks in summer, creating a relaxed aesthetic. It's excellent for low hedging, edging pathways, filling spaces at the front of large, sunny borders, or for large patio containers. The aromatic, silver-grey, evergreen foliage offers year-round structure, colour, and fragrance.
In summer, expect a stunning display of fragrant lilac-mauve flowers that bees and butterflies absolutely adore. These blooms are excellent as fresh cut flowers and can also be dried. Easy to care for and very low maintenance, this lavender thrives in a sunny spot with free-draining soil, disliking wet conditions, especially in winter. Improve heavy soil by adding coarse grit or sharp sand before planting. Water regularly throughout summer until established, after which it becomes reasonably drought tolerant.
