- Offers highly fragrant purple or violet flowers in summer
- Attracts pollinators like bees, butterflies and others
- Thrives in patios and small garden settings
Prized for its abundant, rich purple blooms and powerful fragrance, Lavender 'Hidcote' is a neat and compact English Lavender variety. Its upright stems and bushy habit make it a particularly attractive addition to any garden. A well-regarded and smart-looking lavender, 'Hidcote' is known for its excellent and reliable garden performance year after year.
This gorgeous variety thrives in a sunny spot and tolerates dry conditions well. Its compact size makes it ideal for patio containers, borders, or even as a fragrant low hedge. From mid-summer onwards, the deep purple flowers are produced continuously, attracting bees and butterflies to your garden.
Lavender 'Hidcote' effortlessly complements any style, fitting seamlessly into contemporary or formal spaces, as well as traditional cottage or wildlife gardens. The blooms boast a long vase life and retain their rich colour, fading very slowly, making them perfect for indoor display or drying.
For optimal growth, plant English lavender in free-draining soil in a sunny position. Lavenders dislike wet conditions, especially during winter, so improve heavy soils by adding coarse grit or sharp sand before planting. When growing in patio containers, use a well-drained, soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Prune after planting to encourage bushy growth.
