Thompson and Morgan Lavatera Barnsley Baby Plant in Pot 9cm 2 Pack

A delightful cottage garden favourite, this dwarf 'Barnsley Baby' Mallow offers a compact, floriferous habit, ideal for patio containers or smaller gardens. Expect admiring glances from neighbours thanks to its well-branched form and abundance of soft pink blooms, which are also irresistible to bees and butterflies.
Once established, this Lavatera requires minimal upkeep and tolerates short dry spells admirably. To get started, pot up plug plants and nurture them in frost-free conditions. After they've grown sufficiently and all frost risk has passed, gradually acclimatise the mallow to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant into borders or containers filled with moist, well-drained soil in a sunny spot. When growing in pots, use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Feed and water regularly during the growing season to help young plants establish. Once established, only occasional attention is needed.
The best time to prune Lavatera is in spring, after the last frost and as the buds begin to swell. Cut all stems back hard to approximately 30cm above ground level. Mallow can be slow to break bud in spring, so patience is key – plants that appear dormant may still be alive.
