Prized for its reliable garden performance, Lavender 'Hidcote' boasts rich purple blooms and a powerful fragrance. This well-known English Lavender variety features a bushy, compact habit with neat, upright stems. Flourishing in sunny spots and thriving in dry conditions, its compact size makes it ideal for patio containers, borders, or fragrant low hedges.
From mid-summer onwards, the deep-purple flowers are produced continuously and attract bees and butterflies. 'Hidcote' seamlessly complements any garden style, whether contemporary, formal, cottage-style, or a wildlife haven. Excellent for cutting, these blooms offer a long vase life and retain their colour beautifully, even when dried.
Ideal for hedges, cottage gardens, scented gardens, wildlife gardens and cut flower gardens. Hardy. Position in full sun. Reaches a height of up to 60cm and spreads up to 75cm.
Supplied as 5x 9cm pots. Grow English lavender in free-draining soil, in a sunny location. Lavender dislikes wet ground, especially in winter. Improve heavy soil by adding coarse grit or sharp sand before planting. When growing in patio containers, use a well-drained, soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Prune after planting to encourage bushy growth.
