For optimal growth, cultivate in frost-free environments until sufficiently robust for outdoor planting. After a hardening-off period of seven to ten days, plant in moist, well-drained soil, ideally in a sunny or partially shaded location. Prepare a support structure of wires or trellis, gently securing the stems as they develop, tying in stems as they grow. Consistent watering and feeding will aid establishment.
Once flowering concludes, prune away the oldest stems and trim the remaining growth to maintain the desired size.
