Thompson and Morgan Ilex Holly Golden King Standard Plant in Pot 17cm

The Holly ‘Golden King’ standard tree is an excellent choice, ideal for adding a touch of elegance to gardens, balconies, or patios. Position a pair either side of an entrance to create a stately feel, or use as a focal point. This self-fertile evergreen boasts glossy foliage edged with a delightful golden yellow, providing year-round interest.
In spring, it produces delicate white flowers, followed by red berries in winter, a welcome food source for birds, attracting them to your garden. Perfectly suited to container growing, ‘Golden King’ is easy to care for, requiring regular watering and occasional pruning. Use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3 for container-grown Holly. Repot at the original soil level, firming well into its new container. Water thoroughly and place in a sunny or semi-shaded spot.
Standard Holly trees can also be planted directly into a border, provided the soil is moist and free-draining. Container-grown plants should be fed and watered regularly and re-potted as they grow larger. Prune to shape while young, ideally in summer, removing any damaged stems and trimming the head into a spherical form.
