A garden classic, Hydrangeas are celebrated for their easy cultivation and resilience against common garden ailments, flourishing in diverse soil and garden settings. 'Vanille Fraise' stands out as a remarkable cultivar, the product of extensive breeding trials. This variety boasts elegant, cone-shaped, satin-white flowerheads that gradually transform into a delightful strawberry hue, eventually maturing to a rich russet red.
The erect red stems provide a striking contrast against the eye-catching green foliage, creating a display that enhances any garden or patio space. Blooming from July through October, it extends the garden's colourful season. Plant in its permanent location when conditions permit, ensuring regular watering until established.
For optimal growth, position in a sunny or partially shaded area, sheltered from harsh, drying winds. It thrives in any fertile, moist, non-alkaline soil. Prune after flowering to refine the plant's shape, cutting back the oldest stems to a few buds above ground level to encourage larger blooms.
Please note: All parts of the hydrangea are toxic and may cause stomach upset if ingested. The foliage may also irritate skin allergies.
Position: Sun or semi-shade.
Height: 2m (6ft) if unpruned.
Spread: 2m (6ft) if unpruned.
Supplied in an 8cm pot.
