- Blooms 6 times more than usual
- Changes colour by soil pH
- Great for pots or borders
Boasting six times more flowers than your average variety, Hydrangea French Bolero is a modern hybrid of H. scandens and H. macrophylla that will create the most free-flowering display you've ever seen. This new variety bears flowers along the length of each stem, bursting from strong lateral buds. Like its second parent, its blooms are large and change colour depending on the acidity of the soil; alkaline soils will produce pink blooms, whilst acid soil results in shades of purple and blue. With its compact, spreading habit, French Bolero is perfect for lightly shaded borders and also makes an elegant patio plant. Reaching a height and spread of 100cm, hydrangeas thrive in a position in sun, semi-shade or dappled shade, sheltered from cold, drying winds. For optimal growth, plant in rich, fertile, moist soil, improved with well-rotted manure or garden compost. Alternatively, plant Hydrangea macrophylla in patio containers using ericaceous compost. Expect blooms from June to September. Please note: images are for guidance only and display expected results upon maturity; differing growing conditions can vary results. Images are also for illustration of supply and may vary due to seasonality (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
