This adaptable rock rose thrives in various garden settings, coping well in diverse weather conditions and soil types, making it ideal for coastal gardens.
This drought-resistant beauty is also a favourite of pollinating insects, making it an excellent addition to wildlife gardens. Transplant your rock roses into moderately fertile, neutral to alkaline soil, ensuring they receive full sun. Helianthemum plants dislike waterlogged soil, especially during the winter months, so improve heavy soil by incorporating coarse grit or sharp sand before planting. Once established, these rock roses can easily withstand dry, sandy conditions.
Feed and water regularly during the establishment phase. Once mature, they become relatively drought-tolerant and require minimal upkeep. After flowering, prune the stems back to within 3cm (1") of the previous year’s growth.
