Supplied as 1x 3 Litre Potted Plant, 'Lakemont' thrives in a sunny, south-facing position against a wall with well-drained soil. Water sparingly, especially during dry periods, as excessive watering can affect fruit quality. Prior to planting, incorporate well-rotted manure or compost, and apply a spring mulch to retain moisture. Regular pruning in winter and training in summer will ensure a healthy crop.
Growing Instructions (Year 1 to Year 3):.
Year 1: Summer Pruning: Pinch back side branches to 5 leaves; reduce shoots to 1 leaf. Winter Pruning: Reduce main stem by two-thirds; cut side branches to 1 bud.
Year 2: Summer Pruning: Repeat Year 1 process. Winter Pruning: Repeat Year 1 winter pruning.
Year 3: Summer Pruning: Allow 2 bunches per side branch; prune away lateral growth beyond 2 buds past the second bunch. Prune away lateral growth beyond 2 buds past the second bunch.
Harvest ripe fruit from early October.
