Product Information

  • Fragrant pink blooms from winter to spring
  • Glossy gold-edged evergreen foliage
  • Compact shrub ideal for pots or borders

A wonderful choice for UK gardens, the Grape ‘Duo’ showcases the classic Cabernet and Chardonnay varieties, celebrated for winemaking and their reliable yields. Beyond their delicious, sweet fruits, these grape vines provide an aesthetically pleasing feature for any garden setting. Ideally suited to kitchen gardens, greenhouses, or trained along walls and fences.
This Grape Duo comprises:.
Grape ‘Cabernet’: A deep red grape, perfect for crafting delectable wines and sweet juices. Best grown under cover to protect the crop from early frosts. Harvest time arrives in October.
Grape ‘Chardonnay’: Highly favoured for producing white wine, this variety boasts a lovely sweet flavour. An excellent selection for training against a warm, sunny wall. Expect to harvest in September.
When cultivating grape vines, select a sunny location with well-drained soil. A south-facing aspect against a wall proves ideal. Grape vines necessitate robust support for their twining stems. Prior to planting, establish a framework of wires stretched horizontally between sturdy 1.8m (6ft) posts or affixed to a sun-drenched wall. Enrich the soil with generous amounts of well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting. Position grape vines against the wire supports, maintaining a 2m (6ft) gap between plants. Post-planting, trim the newly planted grape vine back to the height of the lowest support wire, and prune any side shoots to a single bud before securing the main stem to the supporting wires.
Position: Full Sun.
Height: Up to 180cm (71in) when trained. Untrained plants can reach 8m (26ft).
Spread: Up to 150cm (59in) when trained.
Height of trained vine: 1.8m (6ft).
Spread of trained vine: 1.5m (5ft).
