Start by potting them in warm, frost-free conditions until they're ready for outdoor planting. After the risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Select a sunny, sheltered spot with fertile, well-drained soil, and transplant them 60cm apart. Alternatively, grow them in patio bags or containers with high-quality compost. Support each plant with a 5-foot cane, tying the main stem with soft garden twine as it grows.
