Geums dislike soils which are prone to waterlogging in winter. They thrive in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, so enrich heavy clay or sandy soils with plenty of compost or well-rotted manure. Choose a position in full sun, and water regularly until the plants are fully established. Regular deadheading will encourage continuous flowering throughout the summer. To maintain vigour, lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring.
