Thompson and Morgan Fig Brunswick Bush Plant Pot 2.5 to 3L

Cultivate your own fresh figs with the Thompson and Morgan Fig Brunswick, supplied in a 2.5 to 3L pot. This self-fertile tree boasts attractive foliage and yields an abundant harvest of medium, pear-shaped figs. These green-skinned fruits offer a deliciously sweet taste, complemented by their yellow and red flesh.
The first fruits appear in spring, ripening between August and September. A second crop often follows in late summer, and with protection, these can ripen the subsequent summer. The Fig Brunswick is particularly well-suited to the UK climate, displaying hardiness and greater tolerance to colder, wetter conditions than many other fig varieties.
For optimal growth, plant your fig tree in a sunny, sheltered location. A warm, south-facing spot against a wall is ideal. Figs thrive in moisture-retentive, fertile, and well-drained soil with a slightly alkaline pH. Enrich the planting hole with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting.
While figs exhibit vigorous growth, this can be managed by planting in a container before placing it in the ground. When using large patio containers, opt for a well-drained compost such as John Innes No.3. Container-grown figs should be repotted every two years. If wall-training your fig, install support wires before planting.
Water regularly, especially during hot, dry spells. Feeding is minimal; a spring mulch of well-rotted manure or compost at the plant's base suffices. Position in full sun. Expect a height of up to 3m and a spread of up to 4m when fully established.
