Fargesia Asian Wonder bamboo is a rapid-growing, clump-forming variety perfect for creating privacy screens and softening harsh urban soundscapes. Its striking ruby red stems and olive green foliage offer a distinctly tropical feel, creating architectural interest in any garden setting. As the canes mature, removing lower leaves highlights the decorative stems. Ideal for pots, borders, and walls, this bamboo thrives against fences, forming a lush, full screen. Mature plants (after 35 years) boast vibrant ruby red stems and olive green leaves. For container planting, use a soil-based compost, repotting into a larger container, then water thoroughly and place in full sun or partial shade. Alternatively, plant directly into moist, well-drained soil in a sheltered spot, protected from harsh winds. Amend poorly draining soil with well-rotted manure or compost. Given its rhizomatous nature, allow ample space or use a root barrier to control spread. This plant reaches a height of up to 3m and a spread of up to 1.2m at maturity.
