Fargesia 'Asian Wonder' bamboo makes a superb choice for adding structure and screening to any garden, quickly establishing itself to provide privacy and block unwanted noise and traffic pollution. This clump-forming variety displays ruby-red stems complemented by olive-green foliage, creating a tropical ambience. As the canes mature, reveal the decorative stems by carefully removing some of the lower leaves. A top architectural plant for adding structure and movement to the garden.
Ideal for pots, beds, and borders, this plant also thrives against walls and fences, forming a lush screen. When planting in pots, use soil-based compost, repotting into a larger container as needed. Water thoroughly and place in a sunny or partially shaded spot. Alternatively, plant directly into borders with moist, free-draining soil, avoiding poor, dry conditions. Enrich overly free-draining soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost before planting.
Choose a sheltered location protected from harsh, drying winds. Bamboo spreads via underground rhizomes, so allow ample space or use a barrier to control its spread.
