Product Information

  • Darwin Hybrid produces bold golden blooms with black centres
  • Suitable for full sun positions, reaches up to 50cm height
  • Strong wind-resistant stem suits beds, borders, and cut-flower displays

Brighten garden borders with the radiant charm of the Thompson and Morgan Darwin Hybrid Golden Apeldoorn Tulip Autumn Planting Bulb 32 Pack. Tulip Darwin Hybrid Golden Apeldoorn bulbs burst into spring with giant golden flowerheads and striking black centres, creating a vibrant focal point in any garden. Enjoy their rich colour by planting in groups for a sweeping display or bring the sunshine indoors with long-lasting cut flowers. Easy to grow in sunny, sheltered spots with well-drained soil, these bulbs reach up to 50cm high and are perfect for mass planting. Just remember to handle with care and allow the foliage to die back naturally for best results. Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. However, some people have had strong allergic reactions to Tulip flowers. If touching them causes a rash, numbness, etc., then Tulip flowers should not be eaten. Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well-drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs, avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm and at a distance of 13cm apart. After flowering, deadhead the faded tulip flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in summer. Caution: Tulip bulbs are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten. Product Specifications: Position: Full Sun. Height: Up to 50cm. Spread: Up to 10cm. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Images may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonal changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
