Thompson and Morgan Cranberry Vaccinium Macro Pilgrim Plant Pot 9cm

Ideal for creating a cascading effect in containers or hanging baskets, this low-growing evergreen boasts small, leathery leaves and a relaxed habit. Enjoy a display of tiny pink flowers, followed by a harvest of juicy, dark-red berries with a distinctive tart flavour. Often clinging to the bushes throughout winter, the red berries create a stunning contrast against the bronze winter foliage.
Cranberry 'Pilgrim' is perfect for adding to a variety of culinary creations, from preserves to traditional cranberry sauce. For best results, plant in well-drained, acidic soil in a sunny or semi-shaded location. In areas without naturally acidic soil, try growing in patio containers using ericaceous compost mixed with John Innes No. 3. Water with rainwater whenever possible to maintain soil acidity, and protect developing fruits from birds with netting. Little pruning is required, simply remove any damaged or misplaced shoots as needed.
Culinary note: Cranberries are high in vitamins and nutrients. A juice made from these berries can be gargled and swallowed as an effective treatment for sore throats, coughs, and colds.
