- Produces bold red orange blooms
- Climbs walls trellises or containers
- Drought tolerant once established
Adorn your garden from May to September with the exotic, red-orange trumpet-shaped blooms of Campsis x Tagliabuana Trumpet Fire. This hardy, deciduous shrub, also known as Trumpet Vine, is ideal for training against a small trellis or garden wall, providing a lush, mid-green foliage backdrop. Once established, it exhibits impressive drought resistance.
For optimal flowering, position your Campsis against a warm, sunny wall to provide added protection. Plant in moist, well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Alternatively, cultivate in patio containers using a soil-based compost, such as John Innes No.2, enriched with extra grit for enhanced drainage.
Upon planting, cut back all stems to 15cm (6 inches) from the ground to encourage vigorous new growth. Train the strongest new shoots and prune away any weaker ones. After two to three years, once a framework is established, prune back side shoots to within two or three shoots of the main stems, ideally in late winter.
