Product Information

  • Large, medium-blue fruit
  • Exceptionally firm berries with a long shelf life
  • Upright habit with bushy, branching growth

The 'Draper' Blueberry is a fantastic variety, well-regarded for its vigorous nature and abundant crops of large, medium-blue berries. Renowned for their firm texture, these berries boast an extended shelf life, making them ideal for fresh eating, pies, muffins, jams and more. Beyond its fruit, this shrub enhances any garden with its bushy, upright form and year-round interest. Expect masses of sweet, creamy white flowers in the spring, followed by a striking display of fiery crimson foliage in autumn, adding ornamental value to acidic borders or large patio containers filled with ericaceous compost.
While self-fertile, 'Draper' benefits from cross-pollination. Plant in well-drained, acidic soil in a sunny to semi-shaded spot. If your soil isn't naturally acidic, grow it in patio containers filled with ericaceous compost mixed with John Innes No. 3. The best yields typically arrive 28 to 32 months after planting, or as early as 16 to 20 months if you start with a 3-litre potted plant. Patience is rewarded with the best yields typically achieved between 28 to 32 months after planting, or as early as 16 to 20 months for those starting with a 3-litre potted plant.
Growing Instructions: Light: Plant in a sunny to semi-shaded location. Temperature: Hardy but protect from frost during flowering. Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially when the fruit is developing. Feeding: Use ericaceous compost and feed with a balanced fertiliser. Pollination: Plant with another blueberry variety for optimal fruit set.
