This collection features three popular varieties, each celebrated for its reliable garden performance and superb flavour: Blueberry ‘Bluecrop’ – A mid-season variety that delivers abundant yields of richly flavoured fruit in August. Blueberry ‘Duke’ – A late-season variety that produces sweet-tasting berries in August and September. Blueberry ‘Elliot’ – An early-season variety that crops as early as July, offering firm and sweet fruits.
Blueberries flourish in well-drained, acidic soil, positioned in a sunny or partially shaded location. In areas lacking naturally acidic soil, cultivate your blueberry plants in patio containers using ericaceous compost blended with John Innes No. 3. Ideally, water with rainwater, as tap water's lime content can gradually diminish soil acidity over time.
These plants will begin fruiting in their third year. As fruit develops, protect the berries from birds by covering the plants with netting. Once the plants are three years old, prune the oldest stems each autumn to encourage new growth and maintain a healthy plant structure.
