Coolaris Patio' Blackberry offers a compact, thornless growing habit, ideal for container gardening and smaller spaces, whilst still providing a satisfying harvest. Unlike traditional sprawling blackberry varieties, this cultivar is perfectly suited to patios and smaller gardens. Enjoy snacking on the delicious fruits or creating homemade jams.
Reaching approximately 100cm (39in) in both height and spread, these blackberry plants thrive in moist, well-drained soil, positioned in full sun or partial shade. Ensure adequate watering during the first year to promote establishment. As the blackberries develop, protect them from birds with netting.
Harvesting typically begins in July. In autumn, prune fruited canes down to ground level, leaving non-fruiting canes for the following year's crop. In spring, enrich the soil around the base of the canes with a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to enhance moisture retention throughout the summer months.
